Trescerro Rooibos Chai Tea - Haystack Hunting Made Simple

Dax: Trescerro Rooibos Chai almost makes up for the fact that they appear to not own a web domain.  Passing those elegant, elite tea brands that paid GoDaddy the dues needed to get some web space, Trescerro tea did some research, got in there and made some good policies, and came out with an uncorrupted triumphant landslide of flavor.  I tasted some mighty fine rooibos tea in the mix, which by others is usually Aldi brand rooibos.  Not Trescerro, they saved up and picked some goodness.  The base tea was not as fine as one would like, but I would not expect that from them.  They already hit me with this curveball of rooibos chai.  No milk or cream added, as this was taken to the dome with authority.

Rating: A-

Mike: The true teasan has to be wary of rooibos tea from an unfamiliar brand like Trescerro tea. Rooibos tea is often done improperly using low grade herb with bogus flavor. Luckily, our homies at Trescerro stepped their tea game up yet again by producing this concoction: Trescerro Rooibos Chai Herbal tea. If you're a fan of the rooibos, get your greedy paws on this brew and see if you like it because I did. Standard sweet rooibos taste with a lower chai focus than most. This is the 2nd chai rooibos tea, the other being Trader Joe's Rooibos Chai. I don't know which I like more because the other had more of a chai strut. Either way, Trescerro is proving to be a breeding ground for decent teas.

Tazo Organic Chai Tea - Do the Latte

Tazo Organic Chai TeaDax: Packing a powerful flavor uppercut, Tazo Organic Chai tea just wasn't gonna settle for second string. Startin as a rich, bold black tea, what I was about to get into was something extra serious. After the first sip burned my lips and choked my tastebuds with spice, I decided to call for backup. A chai tea this crackin only deserve the trial of latte infusion. After some cream and sugar was added, this Tazo tea held up to the high Starbucks standards and morphed into a 3 dollar drink. Save some money and grab a sachet of Tazo Organic Chai and "Do the Latte".

Rating: A

Mike: Tazo Organic Chai is a tea most fly. Never did see a chai tea like this. Unequivically, the best unsweetened chai tea I ever tried. Didn't even have to add milk or creamer. Steeper's dream to keep your tea this pure. If you're looking for the cure to the common chai tea, get your grimy hands on this one from Tazo. Creamy smooth, naturally sweet, harmony in a bag, hard to beat. When you steep this chai, put some angelic music in the background with a triumphant trumpet accompaniment. Put this in your teacup and drink it.

Orient Organics Masala Chai Tea - Diamond in the Rough

Dax: Orient Organics Masala Chai tea is a standout in the brand.  After their decrepit attempt at Tropical Green Tea, Orient Organics went back to the drawing board and produced a mammoth of a Masala Chai.  Now I did not add the token milk and honey to this Chai Tea to make a Chai tea latte, I wasn't feeling so hipster at the moment.  I took the chai right to the head, tasting the natural glory that it emits.  This is really a tasty chai tea; it plays with a well-balanced flavor, medium-average ingredients, just the right amount of spice whilst you sip, and a lingering aftertaste on the back of the throat that can only be complemented with more tea.  Orient Organics Masala Chai tea is a gas station delight.

Rating: B+

Mike: Orient Organics teas haven't been the best so far but things are about to change. With a few teaspoons of sugar and a little milk and creamer, this Masala Chai Tea from Orient Organics transforms into a force to be rekoned with. Steep this chai tea the entire time, no way to oversteep this one. Of course, nothing in a teabag can come close to the taste of a masala chai tea done the correct way, but this is about as close as you're going to come. Orient Organics, way to hoth.

Lipton Spiced Chai Tea - One Flag

Lipton Spiced Chai TeaDax:  Hmmm, this Lipton Spiced Chai tea is interesting. It's like being handed a blank piece of paper. Maybe chai tea just needs its best friend rooibos to bring th flavor home. Lipton tea is known for its "regular" nature, and their spiced chai tea is dead on, with normality. I even added some Moo-Moo creamer and sugar to the mix with lackluster results. Seriously it is as plain as it gets, hopefully the next Lipton tea review brings the noise a bit harder.

Rating: C-

Mike: Lipton Spiced Chai Tea packs nothing unexpected. no ace up its sleeve, no brass knuckles, no rabbit in a hat. It is just your everyday chai tea. Lipton tea is not known for their shocking blends of specialty herbs and unique spices. Given this reputation, it is no surprise whatsoever that this spiced chai tea from Lipton is just what you expect and nothing more. I added milk and sugar to spruce it up a bit. It transformed this bland chai tea into a tasty dessert beverage, so try that.

Organic and Pure Cinnamon Rooibos Chai Tea - More Than A Mouthful

Organic and Pure Tea ReviewMike: Organic and Pure Cinnamon Chai with Rooibos Tea tastes no different than what it sounds like: too much stuff. First you got your cinnamon tea, then your chai tea. As if that wasn't enough, lets throw in rooibos tea. The taste radiates irredeemability. In combination the whole concoction tastes like pine needles and should therefore be avoided. The smell is good, but in a bathroom air freshner sort of way. Still it is important to note that this Organic and Pure tea is in fact caffeine-free (like pretty much all herbal tea) and is an organic tea. One of my favorite teas is an Organic & Pure tea so I'm a little discouraged by this one's performance.

Rating: C-

Dax: Organic and Pure Chai Rooibos Tea is a mammoth of a name, from a company that usually hits us with mammoth grade tea. This time my palette persisted on a perplexed pathway towards pollution. Not only did I taste the chai tea and the cinnamon tea, but all these other tastes hit me hard as well. I'm a fan of Organic and Pure Tea Reviews, their White Tea with Lemongrass is a standout on our best tea page, but this one was a bit too much effort. It's like when Mr. Burns on The Simpsons had every disease known to man, and they all cancelled each other out, rendering him healthy, yet extremely unstable. TheOrganic and Pure Cinnamon tea is good, but they almost hit a brick wall with all that chemist-like mixing.

Stash Chai Green Tea - Steeping with the Enemy

Mike: Stash Chai Green Tea is the sexier, smarter, more athletic brother of the Stash Chai Black Tea. It’s superior in every regard. A deep, rich taste of concentrated cinnamon and other spices permeates your essence with every sip. Really get your nose in that tea cup and take a whiff of this chai tea and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You literally experience sensory overload as your head gets the dizzies for a second.

The one threat to this Stash tea is his brother’s jealousy. If I have learned anything from a series of movies about sibling betrayal, brotherly rivalry can be a fierce thing. All is good until Stash Chai Black finds out that Stash Chai Green has been steepin’ with black’s wife: Stash Chocolate Hazelnut Tea.

Rating: B

Dax: Stash chai green tea is an interesting tea fusion that was given to me from my partner. Mr. Kofman. I popped open the tea and to took a sniff. This teabag hit me like a silo full of smelling salts; powerful stuff. Regaining conciousness, I took a sip of this green tea/chai tea. the color of the tea was lighter than expected, as was the taste. I cant say that I didn't enjoy this Stash tea review, but after getting hit in the face, you expect a bit more intensity, you know?

Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea - It's About Time

Dax: This Bigelow Tea Review was long overdue, as the box of Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea has been sitting at the crib for a minute. This Bigelow Tea seems to be pretty popular, as I've seen it around the way many a time. First off, the smell is amazingly nutty. The taste is surprisingly smooth and fulfilling. This is nothing that I would put past Bigelow, but like it says on the package, the blend of exotic spices and black tea makes this chai spice tea a delicate addition to our tea reviews. The back end flavor is thick, leaving a refreshing, semi bitter flavor. Of course, I didn't add milk or sugar to this, so you'll have to experiment with that on your own, my young teasan.

Rating: B+

Mike: Bigelow Vanilla Chai is single handedly the best Bigelow Tea in the Bigelow Teas lineup, in my opinion. Upon contact with hot water, what was once a small, porous paper bag filled with plant leaves becomes nothing less than a life-altering, chi and shakra aligning small, porous paper bag filled with plant leaves. Seriously, Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea is that good. This chai tea hits your nose instantly with freshly baked cookie aroma followed by a taste that can only be described as spiced vanilla-gasm.

I know that Bigelow Tea has not received the best rap from tea review blogs or snobby tea connoisseurs in the past because their teas are widely available and even sold at gas stations. I know. Don’t let this stop you from copping some of this tea. Grab a cookie or something sweet to enhance the flavor. Dax, you gotta show Bigelow Vanilla Chai some lovin with a tea beat!

Zhena's Gyspy Tea Coconut Chai - Princess Nari Cat Appurrrroved

Mike: I’ve never tried any brews from Zhena’s Gypsy Tea, but I am definitely looking forward to the next one. This organic chai tea has some of the fanciest packaging I have ever seen, matched only by the quantity of BS marketing, much more than other tea brands. For example: “Combining the Ancient Tea Blending principles that began with the earliest monks and herbalists with the art of Aromatherapy, Zhenas Gypsy Tea produces hand-crafted, premium quality, all natural and organic healthy infusions to please the palate and delight the senses.” I’m a sucker for hand-crafted teas made by monastery dwelling horticulturalists, whatever that means.

The bombastic self-felatio is quite justified as this organic tea is actually delicious. When you open up the canister, the smell can fill an entire room with the almost overbearing aroma of cardamom, ginger, and clove. The Chai tea is a little spicy in flavor and leaves a light herbal film on your tongue and toward the back of the throat to be enjoyed in between sips. But what really keeps me coming back for more is that it its heart, this Ceylon tea is a black tea through and through, and that taste of minimalism intermingled in such a complex flavored tea is what really sends this one over the edge. Get your paws on it.

Rating: A

Dax: Zhena’s Gypsy Tea makes some superior tea, and an excursion to Jewel lead me straight to their Coconut Chai Black Tea. The sleek black and gold tin showcases some of the finest marketing literature I’ve seen in a while, with Hyson brand tea being the only exception to date. The descriptive phrases are abundant, and luckily this aromatherapeutic tea is deserving of every adjective and adverb.

This magnetic fusion of Indian black tea, cinnamon, ginger, clove, and coconut flavoring is a great addition to the Tea Amigos lineup. The Chai black tea has a wonderful aroma that relaxes the mind and soothes the soul, no jokes. One whiff and you will agree with me. Zhena’s Gypsy Tea is a fair trade organic tea that comes in eco-friendly tea sachets, clearly looking out for Mother Earth. I very much admire this superb ceylon tea blend and look forward to more tea review blog entries from Zhena

Stash Chai Spice Black Tea - Tryin' To Be Like Mike

Mike: To its credit, Stash Tea has some solid choices in its lineup. It’s no Michael Jordan, but it might be a starting forward for 4th seed playoff team whose playoff season never really gets off the ground. This is the kind of player that occasionally is voted to play in the All-Star game, scores a few points, and goes home to his beaten wife cowering in the corner. I got side-tracked.

It’s a good chai tea with a lot of interesting ingredients. The cinnamon stands out but other than that they blend quite perfectly to create this tea. You also get some orthodox black tea lovin’ which is certainly pleasant to my sense of authenticity. A very oily, and quite lingering texture can be construed as either pleasant or unpleasant; must be the cardamom oil listed in the ingredients. The taste remains pronounced for a long time post-gulp on the palate.  This Stash Tea review is one for the highlight reel, but it's no MJ.

Rating: B+

Dax:  Stash chai spiced black tea started out with an aroma reminisncent to that of Zhenas Gypsy Coconut Chai. The flavor was nothing in comparison. In the same light, other Stash Tea reviews have nothing on ours.. anyways this chai spice tea was very warmly welcomed by my taste buds. the entry was very bold and has all the delicacies of a strong black tea, but gives you just enough spice to make the back of your mouth feel pleasant. big ups to the homey Nelson for putting me on this one.

Trader Joe's Ruby Red Chai Tea

Trader-Joes-Chai-TeaMike: As a tea purist, it is difficult for me to accept Chai tea as a legitimate tea. It has no actual tea leaves and it’s a caffeine free tea which generally upsets my sentiments. Despite my orthodox views, this organic tea takes deliciousness to a whole other level. I’m not really sure what Rooibos Tea is but it’s damn good.

The smell is possibly more note-worthy than the taste. It’s a rich, clove cinnamon with mint that gives this tea its aromatic ambiance. I spent a good 5 minutes just smelling the steam getting a good feel for the Red Ruby Chai.

To be honest with you, at first I was unimpressed with the taste. The only reason being that the smell had set up such high expectations that I was disappointed by the tea’s inability to recreate the taste perfectly. However, after a few sips and letting the teabag simmer in there, the taste really picked up and propelled me into other realms.

Additionally, as the box suggested, I tried this Trader Joe’s tea with 2 teaspoons of sugar and some milk. No need for dessert. Beautiful.

Dax: Rooibos tea is categorized as a caffeine free tea from the African plains that soothes the mind, body, and soul. Trader Joe's Rooibos Chai Tea has a distinctive clove aroma that reminded me of a holiday. No holiday in particular, just a holiday. Its burnt sienna pigment complements its cinnamon accents, and the ginger, allspice, nutmeg all galavant together to form a pleasurable organic tea experience. No tea leaves here, just an herb tea that really is impressionable. If you are having guests over, steep some Trader Joe's Rooibos Ruby Red Chai, and get the gossip flowing. You can add a splash of milk and the flavor pops off like whoa. The only beef I have with this organic rooibos tea is that the aftertaste is a bit filmy, if that makes any sense at all.
